Teaching Spanish with Immersion Methodology
Hello everyone. I will be teaching university low prices Spanish as a university teaching assistant during my Masters. The problem is that the university uses the "immersion" method, which means I have to teach Spanish to the help that is not English. I speak fluent Spanish, so it not a big problem, but I am a little scared because I really have no idea how to go about teaching someone a new language without understanding what I say. All resources or advice would be great. Believe me, I did some research too, so please do not google "it", comments. Thank you!
I think the best thing is to use lots of realia. In addition, the evidence as often as you can and label while in class with its Spanish label – desk, filing cabinets, door, white board, pencil sharpener, windows, flooring, carpet – everything in the classroom. Teach in a primary school and when I students in a country other than what I do. It really helps.
